XLD281采用三分频设计，使用覆盖控制技术（CCT）将水平覆盖持续控制至250Hz。XLD281使用一个8“钕磁体低频驱动器及一个8“钕磁体中低频驱动器，两个2"音圈钕磁体压缩驱动器，前端连接两个Hydra平面波发声器，合成120° x 10°波导。XLD281可使用三功模式，或者使用内置的高级无源分频网络实现双功放模式。
